Production Designer for Stanley
I worked a 6-month contract production design job with Stanley, the 110-year old company behind every mom’s favorite trendy water bottle, the 40 oz Quencher.
I adjusted artwork and finished files around the dielines of the various shaped items they sell. The projects were usually with Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods or online-exclusive. I was also in charge of updating many of the logos on the products to adhere to the upcoming refresh of their brand guidelines.
Tulle
This was a very cool pattern that actually took a lot of revisions to get right. The look of a sheer sheet of fabric went well with the production challenges given by the dye-sublimation process and wrinkling that would be inherent to the shape of the bottle. The wrap was also designed to meet under the handle so that the line would be less noticeable.
After what the factory thought were flaws in their machines, I had to go back to the file and Photoshop out what they thought was dust and scratches, despite those being part of the design.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a look at this one in person, but it did recently pop up in my social media feed on Target’s Instagram Reels.
Geo Shapes
This was the first project I finished, which happened to be part of the Target-exclusive holiday launch. I adjusted the shapes around the logo and made sure the seam from the printer would be well-hidden beneath the handle.
This is the 40 oz size, but an alternate 30 oz size was made as well and sells in a two-pack with another colored bottle.
This is a prototype from when we got the first round of samples from China back in May 2023. We looked at how the colors looked and if they fit well with the handle and lid.
The product finally launched in November 2023 and was available for purchase at Target stores online and nationwide. It’s always rewarding to see something in real life that you were part of creating, so I went by my local Target and got a picture with one.
