Photography

Though I have never formally been trained in photography, it is one of my favorite hobbies. I am primarily self-taught with DSLRs and have been shooting since about 2010.

My time touring with bands gave me plenty of opportunities to learn and hone my skills while walking around a new city every day;
I loved taking pictures of someone else’s everyday locations that seemed novel or interesting.

Connections from the music world occasionally give me access to shoot bands up close from the photo pit. These are always fun because your time is limited and you often have to react quickly to changes in lighting or where your subject might wander off to. Getting killer shots in those situations is always rewarding.

The sky is also a frequent target of mine; alongside my telescope I love imaging the moon or even other planets when I’m able to - weather permitting, of course.

I love to bring my camera along any time I’m traveling, whether to a wedding or to South Africa. My partner’s garden is also a recent source of fascination, documenting the growth of a sunflower or the decay of berries that were left unpicked.
